Enrique Vila-Matas wins Spain’s National Prize for Letters

The Ministry of Culture has awarded the 2026 National Prize for Letters, worth €50,000, to the Barcelona-born writer Enrique Vila-Matas. The jury praised his decisive influence on contemporary fiction and his formal originality; his work has been translated into about 30 languages.
