Alicante’s council executive has approved the first phase of works around the Mercadillo de Teulada street market: €457,990 and four months for pavements, parking, pedestrian areas, street furniture and road markings.
The project includes removing old surfacing, new asphalt, benches and bins, road signs and markings for parking spaces and market stalls, a new outer fence and an LED screen in the south-east corner of the site. The works were agreed with the Vox group as part of the budget deal.
For shoppers and traders this means easier access, clearer parking and safer movement between the rows. The council has not yet announced a start date; during the works it is worth watching for possible changes to market days or layout.
