Elche: Major del Pla closed for resurfacing this week

The renovation of Calle Major del Pla in Elche is nearing completion: after milling, new asphalt is being laid from 2 November between Gabriel Miró and the Santa Teresa bridge and around the Cantó statue. The street is closed to traffic all week.

Work is done during the working day to limit disruption at rush hour. The renovation has made the pavements more accessible, added trees, renewed the lighting and moved overhead cables underground. The resurfacing is part of the city’s asphalt plan, which moves next to Avenida de Jubalcoi and several outlying districts (pedanías).

Anyone driving into Elche this week, for example to a concert or the Gran Teatro, should plan a detour in advance or park further from the centre.
