Orihuela Monumental half marathon on 15 November at 10:00

The 27th Orihuela Monumental half marathon and the 10th Caja Rural Central 8K take place on Sunday 15 November. Both start together at 10:00 on Avenida de España by the Gabriel Miró roundabout, half an hour earlier than usual so runners avoid the heat at the finish.

The 21,095 m course is three laps of the historic centre past the cathedral, the Bishop’s Palace, the Santo Domingo college and the churches of Santiago and Santas Justa y Rufina, with a stretch through the Palmeral. The race is on the national calendar of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation and is organised by Club Tragamillas.

The poster and commemorative T-shirt show a portrait of the poet Miguel Hernández by Orihuela painter Eva Ruiz; every runner gets the shirt whatever the distance. If you are driving into central Orihuela on Sunday morning, allow extra time, as the course runs through the old town streets.
