Torrevieja’s Local Police have seized about 5,000 items from unlicensed street selling in 2026, mostly on the seafront: almost two tonnes worth over €100,000. This week 1,550 kg of goods were destroyed.

This year the police have filed 35 seizure reports and 11 criminal reports for offences against industrial property (counterfeit goods), and carried out 12 special operations, three of them with the Guardia Civil. The goods seized since 7 April, about 120 bundles, were compacted at the police headquarters and taken to a waste treatment plant in Dolores, where they were destroyed in line with the regulations.

For Torrevieja residents and visitors this means checks on the promenades will continue. Buying counterfeit goods from street sellers comes with no guarantee and no receipt, and the town’s licensed shops lose customers.
