Torrevieja Town Hall has opened a tender to draft a full redevelopment project for the Torreta Florida area (sector 10-A of the La Torreta Partial Plan) on both sides of the Vía Verde. The project costs €80,000 including VAT and must be completed within four months of signing.
What needs fixing. According to urban services councillor Sandra Sánchez, the area’s streets are old, with narrow, damaged pavements that are hard to use with a pushchair or wheelchair, and Torreta Florida has almost no stormwater drainage, which causes problems in heavy rain. The project must cover new pavements and roads with accessible crossings, a review of sewers and water mains, rainwater drainage, energy-efficient lighting, possible undergrounding of overhead cables, trees, benches, signage and spaces for bins.
What happens next. This is only the design stage: the cost and dates of the works themselves have not been announced. The works will be split into three phases that can be contracted and carried out separately. The former railway embankment itself, the Vía Verde, is not part of this project and has a separate one. For owners and buyers in Torreta Florida, this means phased works in the coming years and, afterwards, renewed streets and a fix for rainwater problems.
