On 29 October Torrevieja’s procurement board proposed awarding the completion of the Habaneras Auditorium, Calle Salero and the Varadero to Continental Obras y Mantenimiento for €9.65 million including VAT, 12.89% below the tender price.

Ten companies bid, and the winner scored 92.2 points out of 100. The contract covers four projects: the second phase of Salero, the Auditorium and the Varadero designed by Paredes Pedrosa, an underground 20 kV power line, an automated switching substation and new water mains and storm drains around the Sea Museum and the Auditorium.

For now this is the board’s proposal rather than a signed contract, and the council has not given a start date. For people living in the centre and by the port it means another phase of works near the seafront, and in the end a finished concert hall for habaneras and a redeveloped area around the Sea and Salt Museum, which has €9.33 million in the 2027 budget.
