Bus: Costa Azul line L40
According to Aena, the Costa Azul bus links the airport and Torrevieja directly with no intermediate stops; the journey takes about 40 minutes. At the airport, board at the bus stop on the departures road (vial de salidas). In Torrevieja the terminus is the Estación Torrevieja bus station at Calle del Mar, 40, which is also where the bus back to the airport leaves from.

Taxi: official operators and 2026 fares
The official airport taxi service is run by Radio Taxi Elche (85% of the fleet) and Servitaxi Elche. Cars have a green stripe along the side and the Elche coat of arms on the front doors. The rank is on the arrivals road (vial de llegadas); Radio Taxi Elche has an information desk in the arrivals hall from 9:00 to 01:00. Both companies take bookings on their websites, and Radio Taxi Elche shows the price in advance. Phone listed by Aena: 965 427 777.
Torrevieja is outside the Elche municipality, so the Generalitat’s intercity fare applies. From 2026 the ordinary fare is €2.25 to start plus €1.46 per kilometre; the special fare is €2.80 plus €1.68 per kilometre. The €4.25 airport supplement is added. Ask the driver or the booking service which fare applies to your trip.
Transfer and car hire
If you are flying with children, lots of luggage or late in the evening, a pre-booked transfer is easier: the price and meeting point are agreed before you fly. For car hire, compare the deposit, excess, accepted card type and the opening hours of the airport desk.
Late arrivals and the return trip
- Before you fly, open the L40 timetable for your date: if you land after the last bus, plan a taxi or transfer straight away.
- The Radio Taxi Elche desk in arrivals is open until 01:00; after that, head for the taxi rank on the arrivals road.
- Back to the airport, the L40 leaves from the bus station at Calle del Mar, 40. Allow extra time, as buses do not run every hour.
