High-speed: AVE and Avlo

Look up Renfe AVE and Avlo for longer journeys from Alicante and Murcia. Avlo is a high-speed service with a different fare offer: compare the total including luggage, seat selection and ticket-change terms. Departure times and journey duration depend on the date and train.

Select Alicante / Alacant Terminal or Murcia del Carmen in the booking search. From Torrevieja or Orihuela Costa, plan a separate bus or transfer to the station. You can also check Orihuela Miguel Hernández if your train stops there.

Regular trains: Cercanías and Media Distancia

Cercanías is the commuter network; Media Distancia provides regional services. They have different tickets and conditions. Compare the services available for your date rather than assuming every Alicante–Murcia train is high-speed.

Renfe’s map shows C1 between Alicante Terminal and Murcia del Carmen via Elche and Orihuela; C3 between Alicante Terminal and Sant Vicent Centre; and C2 from Murcia towards Lorca and Águilas. The map represents the network, not a guarantee that every section is operating today. Check service alerts and any replacement buses (transporte alternativo).

TRAM Alacant: the northern coast

TRAM is a separate coastal tram and rail network through the Benidorm area towards Dénia. Select your destination stop and check transfers; the whole journey may require more than one train.

Renfe Alicante Terminal and TRAM stops are different locations. Murcia has its own urban tram, Tranvía de Murcia; it does not replace an intercity train to Alicante.

Prepare for your journey

Choose your date, exact station and service type. Check the last return train, connections, station accessibility and luggage rules. Save the ticket and bring the identity document used for booking. Renfe’s app is useful for booking and storing tickets; use the Cercanías section for commuter timetables.

Leave time between the bus and train: separate tickets do not automatically provide a protected connection. Elx AV, Elx Parc and Elx Carrús are different station names; use the one printed on your ticket.
