Benidorm for residents: padrón without an appointment, health centres, Marina Baixa hospital, TRAM, beaches and market

Where to register on the padrón in Benidorm (currently no appointment needed), which health centres open at night, getting to Marina Baixa hospital, the TRAM to Alicante and Dénia, 2026 Blue Flag beaches, the Wednesday market and the police for your TIE.

In short

Many people know Benidorm for its tower blocks and Levante beach, yet ordinary families live here all year, and almost all paperwork can be done in town: the town hall, four district offices, the National Police with a foreigners’ office, SUMA. For healthcare Benidorm belongs to the Marina Baixa health department; its hospital is in neighbouring La Vila Joiosa, not in Alicante or Torrevieja.

Padrón and the town hall: no appointment for now

The town hall says online booking is currently out of service and people are seen without it: at the town hall and at the district offices (Extensiones Administrativas Municipales) in Rincón de Loix, Foietes – Colonia Madrid, Els Tolls – Salt de l’Aigua and La Cala. Opening hours are 9:00 to 14:00. That booking used to cover the padrón, fee payments and document registration, so simply go to the office nearest your home.

The town hall does not publish its own padrón document list online (checked 4 November 2026). Under the general rules you need an identity document (passport, NIE/TIE) and proof that you live at the address: a rental contract or the escritura. Call before you go so you don’t have to make a second trip.

  • Town hall: Plaza SS.MM. Los Reyes de España, 1, 03501 Benidorm; tel. 96 681 54 00; atencionciudadano@benidorm.org. The citizen service desk is on the ground floor, free line 900 10 12 15.
  • Online procedures (with a digital certificate or Cl@ve) go through sede.benidorm.org.

Healthcare: health centres and hospital

All addresses and hours come from each centre’s page on the Marina Baixa department website. “Continuous care” (atención continuada) is urgent care at the health centre after regular surgery hours. In summer (July–September) daytime surgeries usually close earlier, at 15:00.

  • In a life-threatening emergency call 112. Your SIP card is issued at the health centre for your address, so sort out the padrón first.

Beaches

Two main beaches hold the 2026 Blue Flag (ADEAC): Levante (Llevant) and Poniente (Ponent). Between them, by the old town, lies the small Mal Pas beach, and to the north, by the Serra Gelada natural park, the coves of Tío Ximo and L’Almadrava. Beaches with adapted access for people with reduced mobility: Levante at C/ Murcia, Poniente at Av. Mont Benidorm and by Parque de Elche.

Dogs are banned from Benidorm’s beaches all year under a municipal bylaw. According to the tourist office, the nearest dog beaches are L’Olla in Altea and El Xarco in La Vila Joiosa. In town there are fenced dog parks, for example in Rincón de Loix (Av. del Albir), in L’Aigüera and Adolfo Suárez parks, in La Cala and Foietes.

The Wednesday market

The municipal market (mercadillo) runs every Wednesday; when Wednesday is a holiday it usually moves to Tuesday. It is a big one — 322 stalls in two areas: fruit and vegetables, cured meats, salted fish, nuts and bread in one, clothes, shoes, bags, homeware and small appliances in the other, plus two bars. The town hall currently publishes the stall plan for the Recinto Ferial, so check its website for the location before your first visit.

Transport: TRAM, buses, the airport

Benidorm is a hub of the TRAM d’Alacant. Line 1 runs south through La Vila Joiosa (the Hospital and Hospital Vila stops serve the hospital) and El Campello to Alicante (Luceros). Line 9 runs north via L’Alfàs del Pi, Altea, Calp, Benissa, Teulada and Gata to Dénia. Benidorm has two stations: Benidorm and Benidorm Intermodal. The easiest way to check times and changes is the journey planner on tramalacant.es.

  • City buses — Llorente Bus (Grupo Avanza): 18 lines and 214 stops, in winter roughly 6:00 to 22:30; customer service 965 854 322.
  • Alicante-Elche airport: according to the tourist office, the ALSA bus runs about hourly from 8:00 to midnight and takes around 45 minutes. There are also shuttle transfers and taxis. Check the exact departure on the ALSA website.
