On the morning of 29 October, Ouigo train 6775 from Murcia to Madrid and Valladolid, which calls at Elche and Alicante, stopped in a tunnel near Aranjuez after snagging the overhead line, according to Ouigo. No one was hurt, but passengers spent hours without lights or air conditioning; at 13:45 they left on another train to Madrid. Trains to Alicante were up to almost four hours late that day.

The train left Murcia at about 6:30 and was due in Valladolid at 11:40. At around 10:00 it stopped in a tunnel on the border between the Madrid region and Toledo province, near Ontígola. Passengers were first told it might have hit an animal, then the overhead line failure was confirmed. Adif closed the track between Valdemoro and Villarrubia de Santiago, and Renfe warned of delays on Madrid–Valencia and Murcia services, which media put at over an hour.

Lights and air conditioning were switched off in the carriages and only emergency lighting worked; on X, passengers complained of a lack of water, locked toilets and little information. They were moved to a train on the adjacent track; staff had to wait for metal boarding plates, so the carriage-by-carriage evacuation only began around 13:00, with help from the Guardia Civil. The train left for Madrid at 13:45 and, according to Madrid365 citing Ouigo, all passengers reached Chamartín station. It happened the day after the Urda crash, and many on board were anxious.

Passengers for Segovia and Valladolid went on by bus. Ouigo’s Chamartín–Valladolid service is cancelled: tickets can be changed for free or fully refunded, and Ouigo apologised and emailed the terms of compensation of 200% of the fare. On the day of the incident trains to Alicante were almost four hours late: an AVE from Madrid arrived at 17:26 instead of 13:31. The damaged train was only removed at 4:40 on 30 October, and for a day trains between Valdemoro and Villarrubia used a single track; Adif is repairing the overhead line overnight into 31 October and expects normal service by Saturday. If you are travelling from Alicante or Elche to Madrid, check your train on the operator’s website or app.
