Torrevieja: when to put rubbish out
Under the urban cleaning bylaw (Ordenanza de Aseo Urbano), in force since 14 August 2024, organic waste and general rubbish go out between 20:00 and 23:00 and only in tied bags. Paper, plastic and glass go into their own containers. Leaving rubbish next to the containers or in the street is prohibited, and the bylaw sets fines for breaches.
Torrevieja: free collection of furniture and appliances
Furniture, mattresses and household appliances must not simply be left by the bins. The town hall collects them free of charge from your door on request: you will be told where and when to put the item out, and according to the bylaw text it will be removed within 24 hours. The town hall has asked residents to call 966 702 390. Requests for three or more items from one address are not accepted — use a removal company instead. Shops, workshops and other businesses cannot use this service.
Garden cuttings of up to 2 m³ are also collected free on request; very small amounts — up to 300 litres — can be left in tied bags next to the nearest containers. You can report dumped furniture or overflowing bins in the town hall’s free CityInTouch app (Android and iOS).
Torrevieja: the ecopark (Ecoparque)
The ecopark is a free drop-off site for waste that does not fit in ordinary containers or is hazardous. According to the bylaw text it is on the Crevillente road (Carretera de Crevillente, CV-905), next to the fire station and the Policía Local. Opening hours on the town hall website: Monday to Friday 08:00–13:00 and 16:30–18:30, Saturday 09:00–14:00.
Only waste from private households is accepted, not from shops or offices. You can bring furniture and mattresses, appliances, batteries, lamps, paints and solvents, cooking oil, tyres, garden cuttings and rubble from small home repairs. The bylaw text sets daily limits per person — for example up to 4 pieces of furniture, up to 3 large appliances or 10 small ones, up to 4 tyres and up to 3 m³ of cuttings; at the entrance, say what type of waste you have and roughly how much.
Orihuela Costa: furniture and garden waste collection
On the Orihuela coast, furniture, mattresses and appliances are collected on request: tel. 966 076 100 (ext. 4511, 4512 or 4513) or email costa@orihuela.es. Items may only be put out on the day assigned to your zone in the town hall calendar — you will be told when you call. Building rubble and the contents of a full house move are not collected.
Garden cuttings must be in bags or containers so they cannot blow away, and may not stay on the street for more than 24 hours. Owners must remove more than 1000 litres themselves. Under the municipal bylaw, putting waste out at the wrong time or place is a minor offence (fine up to €750), and furniture dumped in the street is a serious one (€751 to €1500).
Orihuela Costa: the mobile ecopark
The mobile ecopark takes items that do not go in the containers and are not collected as bulky waste: glass and mirrors, renovation rubble, sanitary ware, tyres, hazardous waste, small appliances and small amounts of garden cuttings. You can use any ecopark location in the municipality. The town hall does not publish opening hours on this page; for information call 965 306 178 or email aseourbano@orihuela.es.

Good to know
- You can hand an old appliance to the shop when you buy a new one: the Torrevieja bylaw mentions this option.
- Never pour used cooking oil down the sink: in Torrevieja it goes in closed plastic bottles into the oil containers or to the ecopark.
- For a big move or renovation you need a private company: the free services are meant for individual items.
